Happy Middle Earth New Year! Long ago, in a universe of fiction far far away, the One Ring was cast back into the fire, forever freeing the peoples of Middle Earth from the scourge and wretchedness of Sauron and ushering in the Age of Men. What a great day that was. :)
I love LOTR as much as the next person.. and maybe a little more. But it has only recently dawned on me how much of a nerd I am-- and in some very amusing ways. Enjoy!

So a lot of you guys have been asking if that's me in the preview for TLC's upcoming special that's going to air tomorrow night. Aaaaannndddd... yeah, it's me. :). I've gotten some questions, so I thought I'd answer all of them here.

Sometimes, I wonder about all the people in the world. All the people that are, and all the people that ever were. I wonder how, even in Provo, we will only ever meet a handful of people who go about us every day. And how intricate each life is, with all the strands that are so delicately interwoven. You wait at an intersection in your car, next to other cars, across from other cars, watching the faces of people turning left as they drive by. People that you'll never know. Cars, people, souls... just passing. Like ships in the night. Like galaxies in space.
How do we relate with each other in this world-- globalized, modernized, ostracized? Unless we remain ignorant, how do we handle this world without feeling incredibly lonely, confused, misunderstood, or inadequate? How do we surmount difference and isolation?

So, leaving my car and walking into this unknown land, this field, I ask myself the following question: what is it I really want, and how do I find it? What road am I on? Where am I heading if I stay on the same course? Is it also the road I want to be on, the one that will bring me happiness and growth?

Hey guys! Check out my newest creative ent-deavor, Ents of the World! You might already know how much I like trees-- this is partly an extension of that. This awesome project brings together trees, puns, and Tolkien. Basically, you pick a word with "ent" in it. And then you draw an Ent representing that word, so to speak. Yes, I said YOU. The best part of Ents of the World is that YOU can contribute your Ents and be featured on the site!
